Vehicles in Germany's City Found Smeared with Swastikas in Blood, Police State

Incident location Affected vehicle Area Law Enforcement
Authorities reported they were contacted by a man who found a car in Hanau covered with reddish substance

Around 50 vehicles have been covered with what seems to be blood from a person in the Germany's city of Hanau in proximity to Frankfurt, police confirm law enforcement.

Automobiles, exterior walls and postboxes were defaced, occasionally with Nazi symbols, they stated in a release.

Law enforcement state they were contacted during the night on Wednesday, when a man noticed that a vehicle in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been marked with a red-colored liquid.

The substance had been applied in the form of a banned symbol, they reported.

Officers then found multiple other smeared vehicles and residential walls in the nearby vicinity.

Swastikas are prohibited in Germany under laws banning the visible presentation of symbols from the Nazi era.

Law enforcement state preliminary tests suggest the fluid was probably blood from a person.

"At present there remains no indication as to its source; investigators are not yet cognizant of any harm in connection with the event," they stated.

Local authorities stated they were working "to solve the incident" and have asked to the community for tips.

A senior political figure said the incident rendered him stunned and required to be solved promptly.

"This act hits the center of Hanau and reawakens the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he stated on a platform, recalling the death of nine people by a gunman aiming at individuals of migrant background in 2020.
