2K Games has secured a seasoned producer from Respawn Entertainment to oversee the studio crew at their internal studio, which is currently developing the upcoming over-the-shoulder action-packed title known as Project Ethos.
Management Transition Comes After Lukewarm Response
The new appointee steps into the leadership position at 31st Union following the exit of former leader the ex-Sledgehammer Games executive, who was removed from his post due to the game's disappointing early showing last fall.
Recently, 2K president David Ismailer notified staff about this strategic move through an official communication, which stressed that playtesting had shown the requirement for a more defined vision.
Ismailer expressed that the team is now reimagining Project Ethos with a renewed focus, aiming to address player expectations.
Trend of Strategic Acquisitions
This announcement mirrors a comparable move taken by 2K Games in the summer, when they brought on an industry veteran from Blizzard to contribute to the BioShock studio Cloud Chamber.
Here is the full text from Ismailer's memo:
Dear Team—
I know you all just completed your meeting - I trust you’re as thrilled as I am with the good news. Previously I sent you all a note, I expressed the following: “I believe in this crew. You all are some of the most dedicated and innovative creators we have had the opportunity to partner with - and we’re excited for that collaboration to persist.”
With your dedication and flexibility, especially over the past twelve months, you repeatedly show that.
The player input from last fall’s Project ETHOS playtest was informative. It confirmed the promise of a roguelike shooter but told us we still had refinements needed. It highlighted the requirement for a clearer vision.
It has been motivating to see how far you’ve progressed. You took the input to mind and overhauled Project ETHOS with a refreshed goal - one that’s poised to fulfill its ambition to our fans.
The belief in Project ETHOS strengthens every day. To advance the outstanding development you’ve made, I am thrilled to announce the new hire as the latest Lead of the team. Following a period of talks, he starts with us on the specified date.
Ben’s management and expertise in the PVP shooter space is vast, having spent the recent years creating and overseeing some of the most recognizable titles in the industry, including Call of Duty: Black Ops, and more recently, Apex Legends.
Please join me in welcoming Ben next week. We are all looking forward to persist observing the evolution of the game in the time to come.
The President

Alternatively go big, put it on the line, and hope your squad can secure victory? The decision is yours."
The game does not have an official release date or platforms, but fans can anticipate additional details as development advances.
